Faithful Writes: Thanks for coming on board

Can we meet you?

Esther Idume: I am Idume Esther. I studied Botany at the University of Calabar, Calabar. Presently, I’m into pastry business. A YouTuber who speaks on Faith, relationship, life development. Channel name: Esther Idume

Faithful Writes: Can you share with us your salvation experience?

Esther Idume: Wow my salvation experience is a long one.

As a child, I gave my life to Christ multiple times but I finally decided to live for Christ in 2009. I gave my life to Christ on the 1st of January 2009 and I kept growing till late 2016/2017 when I back-slided. I came back to Christ again in 2019 and it’s been wonderful

 Faithful Writes: Hmmn

How did you give your life to Christ in 2009?

What happened during the 10 years difference?

Esther Idume: OK so in 2009, my aunt was talking to me that morning and all of a sudden, I saw how filthy and stupid I’ve been. I used to be a very very stubborn girl. In fact I was happy to be stubborn. I stole meat and fish a lot, I lied like a profession, I cursed a lot, I always got angry, I just had so much vice in me.

By the time I got admission into the university in 2013, I saw a lot of ‘freedom’ . I had a boyfriend but thankfully nothing too funny happened because of one particular lady. She didn’t allow me to rest at all. When she left for law school in 2016, I somehow started following the wrong company but I was still a church girl doing my thing.

One day after my biochemistry lecture, my course mates were making fun of me because I didn’t have any man in my life and I was a virgin and stuff like that, I got really pissed. As if the devil really planned for me, one guy asked me out a few weeks after then and I agreed because I didn’t want anybody to laugh at me. All this time, my spiritual life was already suffering but it completely died the day the guy raped me, I became so bitter but I really could not speak to anybody about it and it continued happening.

A lot really happened but I found my way back to God in 2019 when I started to forgive myself and forgive the people I needed to forgive and accepting myself again

Faithful Writes: Happy to be stubborn 藍

Faithful Writes: I am awed

Faithful Writes: Thanks for sharing

Can you share with us how your journey to getting back on your feet in 2019?

Practical steps you took to forgive those people?

Esther Idume: I’ll not say it was easy because it was very hard for me.

First thing I did was to pray and accept Christ back into my heart. He brought some kind of peace then I started praying and asking him to help me forgive myself. I prayed this prayer for a really long time but I discovered that it was not working.

I watched ‘Gbemi’ (a movie) one day and realized that I couldn’t forgive myself because I’ve not forgiven the people that hurt me. In fact I wished for an opportunity to kill the guy (I know you’ll be saying that’s to extra in your head but you’ll not understand).

I forgave the guy by praying for his salvation and praying for him in general.

So basically, what I did was pray, cry in God’s presence which is also prayer, read books on forgiveness, watch so many Christian movies and do more praying

Faithful Writes: Thanks be to God, we definitely cannot know how it feels and I know many feel the same way too, they feel no one can understand their pain.

So it’s possible people can get born again ‘twice’ or what do you have to say to that?

Esther Idume: I’ll say yes because it happened to me and so many other people but I guess the second time is more like rededicating your life to Jesus

Faithful Writes: Can you explain further what it means by rededicating?

Does that mean anyone can still keep sinning till they find the perfect time?

Esther Idume: The Bible says that our God is a merciful God and the Bible also says that God is a consuming fire.

You cannot go into sin deliberately because God is a forgiving father and you can always run back to him. God hates sin!

Ideally, if you give your life to Jesus you’re not supposed to go back into sin. It’s just like submitting your answer script after an exam and going back to get it from the invigilator after you’ve gone out.

When you give your life to Jesus, don’t take your life back again by falling into sin. Romans 6:1 says shall we continue in sin that grace may abound and the answer was God forbid

Faithful Writes: What would you like to say to those still struggling in sin, they have repented, but they find themselves going back?

Esther Idume: I’ll say stop trying to do it yourself. Ask the Holy spirit to help you.

Surround yourself with kingdom friends that would keep you accountable also make the Bible and prayers your friend

 Faithful Writes: Hmmn

This is profound

Thank you so much for sharing this insight

Any last words for us?

Esther Idume: A holy and righteous life is possible even in this crazy world.

Sexual purity is very very possible too. Always ask for the help of the holy spirit and he will gladly help you overcome all the challenges of the devil.

Faithful Writes: Amen.

Thanks alot for your time sis

Faithful Writes: May God keep you till the ene

Esther Idume: Amen

Thank you so much for the opportunity.
