WHEN HE REMOVES THE SUBSIDY

By: OGUNNUBI TOMI STEPHEN

There are many things we do enjoy
Many of which we ne’er insured
And of one thing I’m truly sure
That though I number but just four
It won’t be all for long
For though he’s a God of Love
He’s also the Judge of All

WHEN HE REMOVES THE SUBSIDY BY STEPHEN OGUNNUBI

I think of the Air I breathe
So cheap I soon forget it’s free
Could it ever be taken from me?
One question that won’t go from me
Again I see the gift of Light
Another thing he made so free
That no matter how dark the night
The hope of morning we’re sure to see
Could this also be taken from me?
Another question that never ceases to bother me

There are many things we do enjoy
Many of which we ne’er insured
And of one thing I’m truly sure
That though I number but just four
It won’t be all for long
For though he’s a God of Love

The warmth of friends I daily feel
The love of relatives around me
Even of those I’ve never seen
All fills a vacuum inside me
Another gift that seems so free
It’s called friendship, fellowship or Companionship
I’m afraid this could also be taken from me
A thought that never stops to worry me.

Oh the relief of gulping a drink
When in thirst my soul doth sink
Even at will I love to sip
The gift of Water just made so cheap
Never runs dry, in fact so free
E’en though to others untrue may be
That of its source we cannot think
This for sure could be taken from me
A thought that won’t go from me

At long last I found a cure
But then I wasn’t so sure
Whether to call it a cure
Or to find a name more pure
But of one thing i know for sure
That the puzzle just got solved
And questions that once was tough
Soon became so soft

The question I hear you ask is ‘what’?
What do you say is the cure?
To you I say- its Love
This love is from us to God
He gave us all these for Love
And if we forever would enjoy
The gift of his Love
We must reciprocate this Love
‘cause He gave us all His Son
That we might through His Love
Be raised up from our fall

But if we choose to ignore
The gift of His Love
Including the four
Mentioned all along
From stanza one to four
We’ll then face His wrath
The wrath of which I’m sure
Can be borne by none
None? Yes by none
None! No not one

He sends them to a place
A place void of His Love
Not initially made for us
But for the first
Angels who sought His wrath
By ignoring His Love
And underestimating His worth
By nurturing the thoughts
that to Him was not
hidden but was brought
to the light be-cause
even a dot
or a jot
of His word
world not fall
‘cause He’s the All

The All in ALL
The place is called Hell
Where there’s no Air
Where there’s no Friend
Where there’s no Well
Where Light is so rare
Where the subsidy is not there
But just filled with Fear
Where forever runs the Tears
And God does not care
Neither does time care
To put an end to the Tears
‘cause we failed to care
Even after we hear
Hear and hear for years
But never cared
To say yes
To the One who cared
To save us from Death.
