The Wedding Lesson

I was opportuned to attend my first wedding in this year last week, oh yeah! That’s how I’ve missed social gatherings.

It was a pleasant one but I got a lesson to share. Before you think too far, it’s not about the couple, wait for it.

I went to the bride’s house early enough on the day of her traditional wedding. Don’t ask me what I went to do early o.

I met her nephews and niece. My mum gave me juice before leaving home or I ‘stole’ it from the fridge, lol.

I became thirsty for the juice and brought it out to have some. The little girl made an attempt to tell me she wanted some too( don’t come judging about home training).

She brought her cup and I poured some for her, her elder brother also joined in asking me. That one finished his early and even wanted more, hian. Anyways, the oldest also came for his because I refused giving the second child again. (I’m not wicked o).

Immediately, the last child which is the girl, called her immediate elder brother and poured all, tho little in her cup but gave all to her crying brother. Oh what love!

Surprisingly, the eldest also poured from his again to give the girl even though she didn’t cry for it but he knew she would love more despite giving her last drink.

There, just there, I got the message.

The elder brother is God to us. When we act like the little girl, pouring out our last strength to encourage someone who needs it, giving in alms and gifts, giving as Christ as said in His word:

2 Samuel 24:24B
[24]… neither will I offer burnt offerings unto the LORD my God of that which doth cost me nothing. So David bought the threshingfloor and the oxen for fifty shekels of silver.

How many of us are like the little girl? Do we wait till we are full before we can give crumbs to others? Do we give even though you know it’s your last but it would help s crying soul?

How have we showed love to our neighbor?

Just like the eldest brother did, God knows your needs even when you have not asked, when you are able to shower your neighbour with love, He gives you bountiful like the Scripture says:

Luke 6:38
[38]Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.

Trust me when I say, what the brother gave the girl was more than what she gave out.

Giving without expectations or with the mind of “God you can see now o, give me extra “.

Yield to God and the scriptures will be fulfilled in your life.

You won’t have to cry for what you need when you pour out yourself to people in any way God has blessed you. God remains faithful.

Be blessed!
